The ancient practice of Chinese aroma therapy ("xiang nang") dates back over 3000 years. These beautifully wrapped scented sachets contains mystical and wonderful powers made from herbs and traditional Chinese medicines the unlock the bearer's power of "Qi."
Traditionally, these sachets were handmade by women, as works of art as well as a blessing. They were a common accessory for the upper classes and up until the Jin Dynasty (AD265-420) men often carried them around their belts. These days, medicinal sachets are often exclusively made in blessed temples by sacred monks in China. The Qi Pouch Company sources these pouches and their healing ingredients from the most important temples and farms in China and brings them to the West, where the ancient "Qi Pouch" is experiencing a resurgence, worn both men and women as a fashion statement + aroma remedy combined.
Our Journey to Uncovering Ancient Remedies
The founder of Qi Pouch, Lucy Liu Rosenzweig is a China-born artist and social entrepreneur. The Qi Pouch was inspired by Lucy's recent trips to China after her encounter with a monk from a nearby temple under the famed Fragrance Hill in Beijing. As a sacred folk medicinal practice, Xiang Nang is largely forgotten in mainstream Chinese medicine, yet remains as effective now as it was in ancient times. Since then, Lucy and her team of skilled herbal scientists have embarked on a journey to uncover ancient Chinese remedies, drawing from literature research and studies, reference and partnership with scholars from top Chinese traditional medicine universities, combines with visits to scared temples.
